SUMMARY
The Engineer acts as a discipline lead engineer responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and/or coordinating detailed phases of assigned project work. They will work with surveyors and designers during the planning, design, and construction of a variety of projects including restaurant/hotel site design and municipal infrastructure design. The Engineer must be able to perform complex assignments under minimal supervision. The Engineer must be able to interpret topographical survey data along with proposed site plans to produce the civil/grading design, site layout, calculate ponding requirements, create stormwater/SWPPP reports, and provide office support during construction. The Engineer must be able to create civil designs, reports, specifications, and compile engineering data from drawings or field notes. Candidates should be self-motivated with excellent written and verbal
communication skills. They must also be able to work in a team environment, prioritize work tasks to meet scheduled deadlines and be able to work on multiple projects at once.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works well in a Team environment to successfully and efficiently complete projects.
- Effectively communicates and interacts with clients to ensure we are meeting their needs.
- Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to complete engineering tasks.
- Develops plans, specifications, and observation reports to see that these items are complete, accurate and in accordance with sound engineering practice.
- Reviews plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management.
- Practices efficiency engineering as it pertains to design selection.
- Works closely with engineering technicians and experienced engineers.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Is technically involved with the resolution of design problems that may include performing field investigation or observations.
- Checks design computations done by others.
- Coordinates specific design aspects of a project with other disciplines.
- Performs detailed engineering design and evaluations.
- Recommends alterations to development and design by providing creative new approaches and solutions to problems encountered.
- Prepares reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.
- May participate in marketing, sales and business development activities within assigned market.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent required.
- Civil Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, required.
- NCEES Council Record preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience is required.
- Proficient at grading design, additions to existing civil designs, and earthwork calculations required.
- Stormwater management and permitting experience desired.
- Experience with Site Design and Infrastructure Design preferred.
- Experience developing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and performing SWPPP inspections preferred.
- Knowledge of AISC, ACI, ASCE & NESC preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required.
- Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) is desired.
