ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

LOCATION:  FARGO, ND or SAINT PAUL, MN
SUMMARY
The candidate will act as a discipline lead engineer responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and/or coordinating detailed phases of assigned project work. The position requires engineering and design experience with a focus on lighting, power distribution, and fire alarm/security to assure safe reliable and energy efficient operation with a focus on sustainability and cost-effective solutions.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works well in a Team environment to successfully and efficiently complete projects.
  • Must be able to perform complex assignments under minimal supervision.
  • Effectively communicates with clients to ensure we are meeting their needs.
  • Incorporate a strong working knowledge of building and energy codes and applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to complete engineering tasks.
  • Perform design functions including equipment selection, system sizing, load calculations, product specifications, and design layouts for electrical systems.
  • Develops plans, specifications, and observation reports to see that these items are complete, accurate and in accordance with sound engineering practice.
  • Reviews plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management.
  • Practices efficiency engineering as it pertains to design selection and be able to lead and influence the technical design solutions on prospective projects.
  • Works closely with engineering technicians and experienced engineers.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Is technically involved with the resolution of design problems that may include performing field investigation or observations.
  • Checks design computations done by others.
  • Coordinates specific design aspects of a project with other disciplines.
  • Performs detailed engineering design and evaluations.
  • Participate in marketing, sales and business development activities.
  • Occasionally required presence onsite and attendance at construction meetings to observe and report technical findings.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
  • NCEES Council Record preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience is required.
  • Desire to produce quality work and grow professionally in the engineering field.
  • Candidate should be familiar with AutoCAD, MS Excel, Power Point, Word and have proficient knowledge of lighting and calculation programs. REVIT knowledge a plus.
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in US.
